Thomas F. Hughes

Thomas F. (“Bud”) Hughes is a 25-year veteran of the seed and crop genetics industry. Hughes is the former CEO of Memphis-based Stoneville Pedigreed Seed Company, a global leader in advanced cotton genetics. Under Hughes’ direction Stoneville successfully developed & commercialized the world’s first biotech cotton products, grew to record sales & earnings and, after several acquisitions, ended up as an integral component of the seed business at Bayer CropScience. A crop production and business operations specialist, Hughes is also a former cattle rancher and high school agriculture teacher.

Bud Hughes holds a Bachelors degree in Agricultural Sciences from Texas Tech University and is active in a variety of organizations, particularly those with a mission in agriculture or education. He is a former Regional Vice President of the American Seed Trade Association, the founding and current President of First the Seed Foundation, and has served as Chairman of the Board or President of Agricenter International, Southern Seed Association, and the Mississippi Crop Improvement Association, among others.
